Sarah O. Weiler, Founder
The founder and primary contributor to Education for Contemporary Times is Sarah Weiler, long-time educator with a M.A. in Global Education from the University of Illinois and a M.A. in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago. In addition to these degrees, she has been an integral part of two university research groups at the Pontific Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC), publishing articles related to multicultural education and social action education.
Sarah Weiler is currently the Head Teacher of a bilingual school in São Paulo, Brazil where she resides with her family. Throughout her career she has taught preschool, elementary school, middle school and high school, as well as presented lectures at universities and international conferences. Her main passion is teacher professional development, with the aim to revolutionize education and break the dominant teaching-and-learning paradigm that currently prevails.
Through her vast experience, she has worked in elite, private schools, as well as public institutions and NGOs that rely heavily on grant funding and donations. She has worked in the United States and Brazil primarily, with students of all different socio-cultural backgrounds. As such, Sarah Weiler has deep understanding of the issues that diversity brings to the classroom and the challenges faced in different educational settings.
